New Full-Length Releases

Beech Creeps - Beech Creeps Beech Creeps is a Brooklyn band made up of members of a variety of bands including People Get Ready, Pterodactyl, and Yeasayer, just to name a few. They've been releasing music since 2013, but this self-titled, self-produced record is their official debut. Watch: "Sun of Sud" Listen: "Arms of the T-Rex"

Brandi Carlile - The Firewatcher’s Daughter Brandi Carlile was one of the first artists that actually got me into listening to country music. Well...alternative country, at least. Her 2007 sophomore album, The Story and its title track were among my most listened to for that year. She's released two other incredible albums since then, but her latest comes after some pretty big milestones in her life. She married her girlfriend, Catherine Shepherd, in 2012 and welcomed a daughter last year. Watch: "The Eye" Listen: "Wherever Is Your Heart"

Cannibal Ox - Blade of the Ronin Cannibal Ox is a hip hop duo who have been performing together since 1998. They released their debut album, The Cold Vein (produced by El-P), in 2001, then went fairly silent for more than a decade. There were a few singles, a live record, and a compilation in the meantime, but this is only their second full-length record. Fluoride - Material Fluoride is a side project of Beach Fossils frontman Dustin Payseur, started in 2012 with Rene Nuñez. The project, along with Payseur's primary band, is one of several acts which are now a part of the Bayonet record label, which was started last year by Payseur and his wife, Katie Garcia. Material is the first full-length from the label, though it has also previously released a single from Warehouse. Listen: "Sleep"

Gill Landry - Gill Landry Gill Landry is a member of the folk and Americana group Old Crow Medicine Show. He's also been active as a solo artist since 2007, when he released The Ballad of Lawless Soirez. On his latest solo offering, he has enlisted some help from a fellow folk musician from across the pond; one of my favorites, Laura Marling. Lady Lamb the Beekeeper - After Lady Lamb the Beekeeper, real name Aly Spaltro, is an artist I jumped into knowing little more about her than a couple of glowing write-ups on Stereogum. After a couple of spins of her record, and the incredible track "Violent Clementine," she has become of my new favorite musicians. Watch: "Spat Out Spit" Watch: "Billions of Eyes"

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds - Chasing Yesterday Both Gallagher brothers have kept themselves busy since the predictable break-up of their Oasis. In his solo work, however, Noel Gallagher has shown more consistency and proved why he was the primary songwriter for his former band. Chasing Yesterday is his second album with High Flying Birds. of Montreal - Aureate Gloom Even after 18 years together, of Montreal remains a weird and prolific band. Aureate Gloom is their thirteenth album. Following the experimentation with country on 2013's Lousy with Sylvianbriar, they return to their familiar psychedelic pop sound. Watch: "Bassem Sabry" Listen: "Empyrean Abattoir"

Purity Ring - another eternity Purity Ring made a big impact in 2012 with their debut album, Shrines. They began the often-daunting task of recording a sophomore follow-up last year. The album continues their synthy dream pop sound. Response to the record hasn't been as glowing as for their debut, but is still garnering the duo many positive reviews. BOOTS - Motorcycle Jesus EP BOOTS become a semi-household name in December of 2013 when it was revealed that he served as one of the primary producers and songwriters on Beyoncé's surprise self-titled record. His latest EP shows how he arrived in such an esteemed place in pop music with dark, brooding, and yet strangely catchy pop-rock. Watch: Motorcycle Jesus (Short Film)

Jon Hopkins - Late Night Tales The latest compilation from Late Night Tales was compiled by electronica musician Jon Hopkins. In addition to a new track from the man himself (a cover of Yeasayer's "I Remember"), he brings together favorite tracks from Alela Diane, School of Seven Bells, and Darkstar. Kate Boy - Kate Boy EP Kate Boy is a electropop group from Stockholm who have been working together since 2012. There has not yet been a official album from the band (their output has consisted on singles and EPs). Their latest EP brings us five new songs from the band. Mastodon - Blood Mountain Reissue Mastodon will be reissuing a number of their albums throughout this year. They begin with their third studio album, originally released in 2006. It was a concept album revolving around a character who is searching for a crystal skull to place upon the titular mountain. Watch: "The Wolf Is Loose" Listen: "Crystal Skull"

Oh Land - Head Up High Remixes Oh Land released her fourth album, Earth Sick, in November of last year. One of the tracks from the record, "Head Up High," has gotten the now-standard remix treatment from a number of other prominent musicians and producers. Reworks of the track from Mercury, Lauren Flax, MS MR, and CSS are collected in this latest release from the musician. Listen: MS MR - "Head Up High" Listen: CSS - "Head Up High"

Parquet Courts - Live at Third Man Records Parquet Courts have been garnering a lot of positive attention ever since the release of their 2012 debut album, Light Up Gold. They've caught the attention of Jack White, who invited them to play at his record label, Third Man. They performed there on June 5 of last year. Listen: "Duckin & Dodgin"

Ramona Lisa - Piano Versions Caroline Polachek of Chairlift released her debut album, Arcadia, as Ramona Lisa last year. She's already released one follow-up EP, Dominic, but her latest introduces alternative versions of some of that album's tracks. Watch: "I Love Our World" Listen: "Walking in the Cemetery"

Warehouse - Tesseract In addition to the debut album from Fluoride, Bayonet records is also re-releasing the debut record for Atlanta's Warehouse. The record was originally self-released by the band in July of last year. Listen: "Omission" Listen: "Promethean Gaze"

Allah-Las - Worship the Sun Sometimes, listening to the radio can still introduce you to some great new music... well, satellite radio, at least. During a recent road trip to a wedding in a rental car with free satellite radio, I first heard the Allah-Las. At this point, I can't quite remember the song that I heard, but I quickly jotted down their name so I could look them up later. Their garage rock game is strong and reminds me a little bit of Jaill around the time of their This Is How We Burn album. Definitely a great find! Watch: "No Werewolf" Watch: "501-415"

Blake Mills - Heigh Ho Blake Mills caught my ear on the quality of his recent collaborations. One of the early tracks released from this record featured vocals from the venerable Fiona Apple. His talents have also allowed him to play with artists like Cass McCombs, Band of Horses, and Julian Casablancas, as well as to produce albums for Alabama Shakes and Sara Watkins (of Nickel Creek). But he's also an excellent solo musician with a new, but familiar sound. Heigh Ho is his second record. Watch: "If I'm Unworthy" Watch: "Don't Tell Our Friends About Me"

The Juan MacLean - In a Dream The end of LCD Soundsystem left many fans reeling, but here is yet another band to check out if you've been missing them. Made of up John MacLean and former LCD member Nancy Whang (who is featured gorgeously on the album cover), they produce a similar type of electronic dance-punk. In a Dream is their fifth studio record. Watch: "A Simple Design" Watch: "A Place Called Space"

Lia Ices - Ices A lot of new music comes out in a given year, a lot by artists that I have an interest in. Few, though, really make a solid impact, even fewer on first listen. But this is one of those albums. I first came to love Lia Ices with the release of her 2011 record Grown Unknown. That album is great, but this one also makes me incredibly happy to listen to. It's light and upbeat, but loses none of what made her so appealing to me initially. Watch: "Higher" Watch: "Thousand Eyes"

My Brightest Diamond - This Is My Hand Shara Worden's previous record, All Things Will Unwind, was my favorite of hers (up to that point) and somewhat changed how I thought about the artist. Where earlier work had seemed heady and a bit unapproachable, that record brought her sound back down to earth a bit. What I've heard from this seems to be on that same track. She keeps the classical intricacies of her past work, but the songs created are easily listenable and interesting. Watch: "Pressure" Listen: "This Is My Hand"

Octave Minds - Octave Minds Octave Minds is the newly-formed combination of Boyz Noise (aka Alexander Ridha) and Chilly Gonzalez (aka Jason Beck). The duo formed after the Canada-based Chilly relocated to Germany, where Boyz Noise is based. The EDM-meets-piano virtuosity combo makes for an unexpected pairing, but a thoroughly rewarding one. Although the band is made up of two incredible musicians, they've also enlisted the help of another notable act, Chance The Rapper. Watch: "Symmetry Slice" Watch: "Anthem"

She Keeps Bees - Eight Houses This band's interesting name comes from the surname of vocalist Jessica Larrabee. Since they formed in 2006, the band has garnered some pretty impressive comparisons to the White Stripes, PJ Harvey, and Cat Power, just to name a few. Their latest album also features fairly extensive guest vocals from another prominent artist, Sharon van Etten. Watch: "Is What It Is" Listen: "Breezy"

Shellac - Dude Incredible Shellac is the main band for guitarist Steve Albini, who has become better known for his production work than his own music. While he's a well-known and respected producer, he's had a long career as a musician, too, spanning back to the early 80s. This band has been together for just over 20 years and this is their fifth album. Listen: "Dude Incredible" Listen: "All the Surveyors"

Other New Releases

CONS EP Vol. 2 The CONS EP series is a new music project from shoe brand Converse. Previously, they engaged in an ongoing singles series that saw contributions from artists such as Julian Casablancas, Frank Ocean, and Santigold. This new campaign is a lot more focused on skateboard culture and sees more hip hop and punk contributions. This latest has a collaboration between Flatbush Zombies (hip hop) and Trash Talk (punk). Dead Man's Town: A Tribute to Born in the USA June 2014 marked the 30th anniversary of Bruce Springsteen's iconic Born in the USA. To celebrate the record's milestone, Lightning Rod Records has put together a tribute album made of up covers from that album performed by a variety of artists. Featured here are Low, Nicole Atkins, Jason Isbell, and Blitzen Trapper, among many others. Listen: Nicole Atkins - "Dancing in the Dark" Listen: Low - "I'm on Fire"

Franz Ferdinand - Late Night Tales The Late Night Tales series continues to go strong with this 37th entry, curated by Scottish rockers Franz Ferdinand. Along with their own new singles, "Leaving My Old Life Behind," theirs features songs from Boards of Canada, James Brown, and Paul McCartney. Jimi Hendrix - The Cry of Love Reissue A couple of Jimi Hendrix albums are getting reissued this week. The first, The Cry of Love, was the first released posthumously following his death in 1970. He had been working on the record before his death, but the individual tracks were in various stages of completion. Everything was completed following his death; the result is a highly-regarded album. Listen: "In from the Storm" Listen: "Belly Button Window"

Jimi Hendrix - Rainbow Bridge Reissue This was the second album released following Hendrix's death. It was released as a soundtrack for the concert film of the same name, though it did not contains any live performances featured in the film. Like its predecessor, it features tracks that Jimi worked on towards the end of his life. Listen: "Hey Baby" Listen: "Room Full of Mirrors"

LAMC #13 The thirteenth installment of Famous Class' Less Artists More Condos series takes on a punk vibe. The split single features a new track from Parquet Courts on one side, and one from Future Punx on the other. Listen: Parquet Courts - "This Is Happening Now" Listen: Future Punx - "Spike Train"

Mass Appeal Compilation Vol. 1 Mass Appeal is a music, fashion and culture media network with a heavy focus on hip hop. For their first compilation, they have enlisted such artists as A$AP Ferg, YG, and Pusha T to contribute new songs. Listen: "Old English"

Moonface - City Wrecker EP City Wrecker is the follow-up to Moonface's incredible 2013 album, Julia with Blue Jeans On. It has a similar name to a recent popular Miley Cyrus track and Spencer Krug has described it as an aesthetic counterpoint to that song. Don't let that stop you from giving it a listen though, it's a great EP! Watch: "City Wrecker" Listen: "Daughter of a Dove"

Nancy Whang - The Nancy Whang Casablanca Reworks In addition to a new album from her band, The Juan MacLean, Nancy Whang is also putting out this mix of song reworkings this week. She applies her own touch to tracks like "Working the Midnight Shift" (by Donna Summer), "Like an Eagle" (Dennis Parker), and "Flashlight" (Parliament). Watch: "Like an Eagle" Listen: "Flashlight"

Ramona Lisa - Dominic EP Caroline Polachek of Chairlift released her first solo album, Arcadia, just this past April. She is following that up with a short collection of new songs. The title track is taken from her album; additionally, the release includes a French-language version of the song, a brand new song, and a cover of a song originally by Psychic Tv. Watch: "Dominic"

Run the Jewels - "Oh My Darling Don't Cry" The hip hop duo of El-P and Killer Mike contribute the latest track to the Adult Swim Singles Series,w which features their trademark back-and-forth style. Run the Jewels will also be releasing their sophomore album later this year! Listen: "Oh My Darling Don't Cry"

Ryan Adams - "Jacksonville" 7" I guess Ryan Adams decided to make 2014 a catch-up year. With a fairly long (for him, at least) gap between albums, he is quickly making up for it with new material. In addition to his recent album, he has put a single, two EPs (including this one), and has another EP slated for late October. Listen: "Jacksonville" Listen: "I Keep Running"

Swim Good x RLMDL- "Saturday" Swim Good is a Toronto-based producer whose name is a nod towards a Frank Ocean track. RLMDL is an electronic dreampop outfit, also from Toronto. Together, they've created a track that's a mix of genres from ambient, to house, to indie pop. Listen: "Saturday"

Damon Albarn - Everyday Robots Damon Albarn has been incredible active over his 26-year career. He has fronted two bands, Blur and Gorillaz; worked with other musicians on various collaborative projects, including The Good, The Bad & The Queens; and scored operas. In all this time, though, he hadn't yet released a proper solo album. Everyday Robots perhaps plugs into Damon's most personal side and shows what he can do on his own. Fennesz - Bécs Christian Fennesz is an electronic guitarist from Austria who has been a frequent collaborator with many other artists, such as Jim O'Rourke, Tony Buck and Mark Linkous. He has also been an active solo artist, releasing seven studio albums since 1997. His latest record is being hailed as a return to the sound he developed on his 2001 breakout Endless Summer. Nat Baldwin - In the Hollows Nat Baldwin is the bassist for the experimental indie rock band Dirty Projectors. He is also a solo musician who released his first album, Most Valuable Player in 2008. Last year, he released a collection of demos, Dome Branches, and is following that up with his latest studio record. Watch: "In the Hollows"

Olga Bell - Krai Olga Bell is another member of the Dirty Projectors, playing keyboards and providing backing vocals. Born in Moscow, she recorded her sophomore studio album in her mother tongue. Listen: "Perm Krai"

Pink Mountaintops - Get Back I never realized that the top of a black mountain would be pink in color! Pink Mountaintops is a side project of Stephen McBean of the Canadian psych-rock band Black Mountains. The band is a bit of a supergroup, also containing members of Godspeed You! Black Emperor!, Cold War Kids and Cat Power's band. Watch: "Ambulance City" Watch: "North Hollywood Microwaves"

Pixies - Indie Cindy The Pixies were one of the definitive alternative rock bands of the late 80s/early 90s, but disbanded in 1993. They reformed in 2004, but it wasn't until last year that they released new music. It started with the single "Bagboy" followed by three EPs released late last year and earlier this year. Their first proper studio album in over 20 years collects all of those tracks together on one collection. Watch: "Snakes" Watch: "Greens and Blues"

Ramona Lisa - Arcadia Carolina Polachek is a member of the band Chairlift, with which she has released two albums, including 2012's incredible Something. Polachek has also been performing secret shows under the name Ramona Lisa since last year. Her debut solo album features love songs told through the lens of nature. Rodrigo y Gabriela - 9 Dead Alive Rodrigo y Gabriela are a pair of former heavy metal guitarists from Mexico. It was in Dublin, Ireland, though, where they developed the complicated, intricate, instrumental, dual-guitar sound for which they have become known. 9 Dead Alive is their fourth studio album and each song is dedicated to an important historical figure who has passed. Wye Oak - Shriek Baltimore-based band Wye Oak released four albums between 2008 and 2011. In the time since their 2011 release, Civilian, lead singer Jenn Wasner has been busy with side projects, including singles with Flock of Dimes and an eponymous album as Dungeonesse. Her return to her main band also brings with it a change of sound. In their previous albums, Wye Oak's sound has been guitar-driven, but the latest has more of an electronic base. They still sound like Wye Oak, though! Watch: "The Tower" Watch: "Glory"

Disclosure & Friend Within - "The Mechanism" Disclosure have proven themselves as incredible musicians and have put out a number of awesome collaborative tracks. The latest partners them with UK producer Friend Within. Listen: "The Mechanism"

Haim - "If I Could Change Your Mind" Haim rode in on a wave of hype with last year's Days Are Gone. "If I Could Change Your Mind" was one of the stand-outs from that record and is now seeing its release as a single. Watch: "If I Could Change Your Mind"

Jacques Greene - Phantom Vibrate EP Jacques Greene is a Canadian producer who has made a name for himself remixing both new and classic tracks. This is his third collection of original material. Watch: "No Excuse"
