Fémina - Perlas & Conchas Fémina are a hip hop and folk trio from Argentina. They got their start, and their name, with the realization that there wasn't much female representation in their music scene. Their third album includes a feature from Iggy Pop. Ioanna Gika - Thalassa Ioanna Gika is the frontwoman for the indie band Io echo, who have been releasing music since 2010. This is her first record as a solo artist. Watch: "Out of Focus" Watch: "Roseate"

Khalid - Free Spirit Khalid came onto the scene at 18 years old with the song "Location." He released his debut album, American Teen, a year later in 2017. He's already had several hits, and looks to be continuing that success on this record, with lead single "Talk" performing well on the charts. Watch: "Talk" Watch: "Free Spirit"

Priests - The Seduction of Kansas Priests is a post-punk band out of DC who released their debut album, Nothing Feels Natural, in 2017. The recorded their follow-up with celebrated  produced John Congleton. Watch: "Good Time Charlie" Watch: "Jesus’ Son"

Weyes Blood - Titanic Rising Titanic Rising is the fourth album from this artist, also known as Natalie Mering, and follows her spectacular 2016 album, Front Row Seat to Earth. Leonard Cohen - You Want It Darker We didn't know it at the time, but this would be the last album that this musical genius would release during his lifetime. The 82-year-old singer and songwriter passed away on November 7 following a fall. He'd said some prophetic statements recently, but was in good health and just seemed like he should live forever. Thankfully, he graced us with another incredible collection of songs before he left us. Watch: "You Want It Darker" Listen: "Traveling Light"

NxWorries - Yes Lawd! NxWorries is Anderson .Paak and Knxwledge. The duo first formed last year and released an EP, Link Up & Suede. 2016 has been a big year for both artists individually; .Paak released a highly-regarded fourth album, Malibu, and Knxwledge released several albums, and provided production for tracks by Ghostface Killah, Action Bronson, and Earl Sweatshirt. Pretenders - Alone This album is a meeting of Akron minds. The Pretenders are back after an eight-year gap with an album produced by Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys. In addition to providing production, Auerbach brings several members of his Arcs project to provide instrumentation on the record; Chrissie Hyndes and Martin Chambers are the sole original members that remain with the band. The Radio Dept. - Running Out of Love The Radio Dept. always flies under my radar when I think about my favorite artists and albums over the past few years, but their 2010 record Clinging to a Scheme, is an album I can always come back to and enjoy. Running Out of Love is an amazing follow-up. The album is inspired by dance and techno music, though they employ a more understated version of the styles. Weyes Blood - Front Row Seat to Earth Weyes Blood is Natalie Mering, who started her career as the bassist for Jackie-O Motherfucker before going solo ten years ago. It wasn't until 2014 that she released her debut album, The Innocents, which debuted her 70s folk-inspired sound and use of distinct instrumentation. Protomartyr - The Agent Intellect I annoyed my boyfriend a bit last week when Protomartyr's "Why Does It Shake?" got stuck in my head. I was singing the title refrain over and over, and the lyrics confused him a bit. I finally had to play him the original song. The Detroit-based post-punk band has a foreboding sound that recalls the darker elements of the genre. They are part of an excellent revival of the genre that sounds much different from the British revival more than 15 years ago. Listen: "Why Does It Shake?" Listen: "Dope Cloud"

Saintseneca - Such Things Sometimes a free concert is all you need to get into a new band. Northside, Cincinnati hosts a Rock 'n Roll Carnival every year for Independence Day and Columbus, Ohio-based Saintseneca played this year. Although I didn't see them in person, I could hear their music streaming down the street and loved what I heard (I'm also always a sucker for bands from Indiana and Ohio). It wasn't long until they announced this new album, an excellent set of songs that prove they sound just as great recorded. Watch: "River" Watch: "Bad Ideas"

The Zombies - Still Got That Hunger It's amazing how many bands who got started in the 1960s are still going strong. The British band The Zombies became best known for the hits "Time of the Season" and "She's Not There." The group went through several cycles of breakups and reunions before their last reunion in 2004. This is their third album since that reunion, though just their sixth overall.
